We have stayed at Dusty’s Place three times. Dog human companions will appreciate how difficult it is to leave your pets behind and just how much you miss them. Similarly, you will all have seen the “pet welcome” promise only to discover that it has stipulations such as “one small well-behaved” and that there are hidden charges per pet. Indeed, as a family who has seen many self-catering properties in Ireland, many have been found wanting in what they have to offer you or your pet. You may have found yourself grabbing a torch and lead to escort a dog out into unfamiliar surroundings in the middle of the night for toilet breaks.

This is why Dusty’s Place is unique! The fully enclosed garden means that no matter what age or how sensible your dogs are, you can leave them out and know that they will be safe. The garden is large and grassy (no toxic plants and shrubs). You have a picnic table so you are able to sit out with them and have a cuppa. There are only reasonable rules that safeguard the bedding but a comfy sofa is not off limits so your dogs feel at home. You may leave the dogs unattended at home, therefore, if you plan to eat out this means you can relax and not worry that they will overheat in a car or be taken from where they are tied up outside.

There is no excuse for not relaxing fully. The house has a large FULLY EQUIPPED kitchen (how many times have you arrived only to discover no can opener or bread knife) and there are actually more handy implements than we have at home. The bath is a Jacuzzi, one of the bathrooms is en-suite and you have a washing machine and drier. One of the rooms is the BEST; it has a wood and turf stove and a collection of descent books, CDs and DVDs. You could basically sit there all afternoon without having to be adventurous and that would be JUST FINE!

There are plenty of beaches to drive to; Culdaff is a favourite for our dogs. If you like a drive up further towards Malin, there is a most beautiful beach called Five Finger Strand that you will like as much as the dogs..It’s heaven!

The little touches mean a lot too! The neighbour Michelle looks after the property. You know you can ask any questions you have and at the same there is nothing intrusive or pushy about the set up. You have the peace you relish but feel safe knowing someone is nearby if there are any problems. Arriving after a long journey to a bottle or prosecco and fudge and customised biscuits for the dogs is what memories are made of!
